The Foundation’s commitment to sharing the stories of the St. Louis freedom suits and the long Black freedom struggle in the United States, would be impossible without the sustaining generosity from the community which it serves.
The mission of the Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation encompasses both a physical aspect in all that Freedom Plaza has to offer, as well as an educational undertaking to enhance and expand upon the messages of “Freedom’s Home“.
In recognition of the absence of a sufficiently organized and on-going educational program in the United States school system on the role and contributions of Blacks to America, it is worthwhile to strive to have the Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation and its website become a well-known, respected source of information and enlightenment for all, from school-aged children to adults, about the history of slavery in America and how enslaved people, formerly enslaved people, and their descendants have experienced American life whether before and after the abolition of chattel slavery, including the obstacles in their way and the victories they have achieved in a struggle that continues.
The Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation also will have a role in cooperating with the City of St. Louis for the maintenance, upkeep, and improvement of all physical aspects of Freedom Plaza, including the Freedom Suits Memorial, which is located on the east side of the Clyde S. Cahill, Jr., Court Building in the City of St. Louis, Missouri.
The Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation Board is pleased to introduce our NEW donation portal.
