We are excited and proud to share with you that Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation board member, Lynne M. Jackson, will be a keynote speaker for the RootsTech 2024 Worldwide Conference, which will be held in Salt Lake City, UT, February 29 – March 2, 2024. It is anticipated that this conference will be participated in (in person and on-line) by more than three million people in 236 countries and territories around the globe! Family Search International, which hosts the Conference, is the largest genealogy organization in the world and seeks to help others preserve and access their family records.

This is quite an honor for Lynne, who has tirelessly worked for understanding and reconciliation in the name of, and to honor, her great-great-grandparents, Dred and Harriet Scott. Her efforts include not only bringing attention to the courage of her ancestors, but also honoring them with an impressive bronze sculpture of Dred and Harriet, standing hand in hand, on the east plaza of the Old Courthouse, just at the bottom of the steps where thousands of enslaved Black Americans were sold as mere property after being brought up from the levee.
Included here is the brief invitation video which Lynne was asked to make as a keynote speaker for the RootsTech 2024 World Wide Conference. I hope you will take a short minute to view it.
Being asked about her Keynote Speaker role, Lynne offered: “We are all destined to be here at a time when our abilities and the looming technologies merge with our desire to know our past and to explore our histories. My hope, by speaking at RootsTech 2024, is to help inspire you and draw you into that familial path that will ground you as you become the roots and foundation of your next generations!”

In addition to Lynne’s work on the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation, she has graciously agreed to serve on the board of the Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation. Our entire board appreciates all Lynne has done before joining us and we look forward to working with her in the future!
