All the members of the Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation Board of Directors are very excited about our launching a website to begin what we realize will be an ambitious educational mission. The FSM Foundation’s website content will have as its anchor the stories and accounts of immeasurable courage of the freedom suits plaintiffs, as well as information about the lawyers and judges who helped them.
On the very first national celebration Juneteenth, June 20, 2022, the Freedom Suits Memorial Steering Committee oversaw unveiling of the Memorial sculpture and its base with the names of the 330 plaintiffs! Now, just one year later, we are moving ahead with our not for profit entity, the Freedom Suits Memorial Foundation, to carry the mission forward. At the outset we will be doing things such as reaching out the community with educational opportunities, such as field trips for grade schoolers to the Memorial. We are also very fortunate to have scholars and authors on our board, who are experts in freedom suits, as well as the broader history of Blacks in America.

We look forward to having a celebration at the Memorial on Juneteenth 2024 and will be making many posts on our activity between now and then.
